How I Can Help

Services

By utilizing a combination of counseling theories and techniques, personal life experiences, and a genuine curiosity for life, I will help guide you through the transformative process of traveling inward. You will learn to notice your thoughts in a kind and gentle way from the viewpoint of a curious observer while also experiencing the feelings and emotions that show up for you in the process.

Together we will explore the limiting beliefs that may be serving as barriers to the happiness, joy and contentment you may be searching for. Perhaps you are noticing patterns in your personal and/or professional life that are holding you back from accomplishing your goals and desires, or perhaps you are using unhelpful or unworkable strategies in your relationships that leave you feeling isolated, angry or confused.

If you are like me and countless others who have struggled with similar concerns perhaps it is time for you to explore what it means to become more mindful of, and change your relationship to, the thoughts and beliefs that may be keeping you from experiencing a more full and satisfying life.

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
– Carl Jung –

4. Values Clarification - Identifying what truly matters to the individual

* Increase Psychological Flexibility - ability to adapt to changing circumstances and challenges

* Improve Quality of Life

ACT Techniques:

1. Mindfulness Exercises

2. Defusion Techniques

3. Values Exploration

4. Behavioral Experiments

ACT is effective for various issues including anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain as it fosters resilience and promotes a values-driven approach to life.

Counseling for Anxiety

Is anxiety taking over your life? Does it feel like you can’t control it no matter how hard you try? Have you already tried therapy but found it ineffective? If this sounds like you, I’m confident I can help. My practice offers the most effective forms of treatment, to get the relief from anxiety that you deserve. When it comes to treating anxiety disorders, research shows that therapy is usually the most effective option. That’s because anxiety therapy – as opposed to anxiety medication – treats more than just symptoms to the problem.

Counseling for Trauma

Most people will experience trauma in their lifetime whether it’s a car accident, abuse or neglect, the sudden death of a loved one, a violent criminal act, exposure to the violence of war, or a natural disaster. While many people can recover from trauma over time with the love and support of family and friends and bounce back with resiliency, others may discover effects of lasting trauma, which can cause a person to live with deep emotional pain, fear, confusion, or posttraumatic stress far after the event has passed. In these circumstances, the support, guidance, and assistance of a therapist is fundamental to healing from trauma.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.

Life Transitions

Has your life been touched by a major event such as a death, divorce, or layoffs at work? Are you having a hard time moving through and past the emotional turmoil? Do you feel completely stuck and like you need guidance getting back on track? There’s no denying that life often presents us with our fair share of challenges, usually in the form of sudden change. These life transitions, even the positive ones, can throw us into a tailspin and leave us feeling stressed, confused, and vulnerable. But with the right tools and mindset, you have the power to not only overcome any adversity but also transform into a more authentic and confident version of yourself.

Therapy for Depression

Are you feeling hopeless, isolated, and not your usual self? I want you to know that you are not alone and there are people who can help. Many of my clients find relief in realizing that their struggle does not own them and that there are many options available to once again have hope for their lives. I understand the social stigmas that come with the label of being depressed and thus aim to help clients sort out their environmental, biological, and circumstantial factors while offering support and care through a very dark time in their lives.

Women’s Issues

Have you lost much of the joy you once felt? Are you struggling in an abusive or toxic relationship? Do you have years of living with low self-worth resulting in a less-than-desirable life?  Women may experience certain environmental, psychological, and systemic challenges related to gender that have a significant impact on their mental health and well-being. If not addressed these challenges can turn into burdens that often lead to anxiety, depression, and a lost sense of self.
